Hi, I'm Jennifer

A speech language pathologist who is passionate about working collaboratively with families and educational teams to guide them in developing their skills to be strong communication partners for the AAC communicators in their lives. Delivering play-based therapy I love to find unique activities that incorporate the strengths and interests of my clients. I offer a neurodiversity affirming environment that takes into account the individual sensory needs of each client. Working as a school-based speech-language pathologist 25 years I have acquired an understanding of the challenges and needs of our complex communicators and their teams during their educational journey. I have co-written an AAC Curriculum for Educational Assistants which I teach with another talented AAC SLP, Corinna Duffitt, as part of a college course for Educational Assistants. I am registered with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (#1491) and also hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (#09143630). When I’m away from work, I’m a wife to my best friend, a lucky mother of twins,(two young men), a lover of patterns and colours found in nature, and a dog/bunny mum to an adorable mini aussie shepherd and a diva house bunny.

Our family of 4 are grateful clients of Jennifer for more than 2 years now. She works closely with our 2 boys who are on the Autism Spectrum. We cannot speak highly enough of Jennifer and what she has done to help our family thrive in the area of Speech and Language. Jennifer is so invested in our boys and celebrates all of their success, most of the success is thanks to her dedication to them both. Jennifer's lessons are always fun, engaging and interactive. She brings a variety of different purposeful activities each week to our home sessions and focuses on what our boys enjoy as a way to encourage communication. Jennifer is organized, open in communication and provides us (the parents) with information that might help our boys and their individual needs. She has created resources for our home to help us encourage our boys to communicate more. Our child is non-verbal, and with Jennifer’s hard work and expertise, he has become proficient with TouchChat and can communicate well through his device. She caters sessions to his interests and is always coming up with innovative ways to encourage communication. She is kind, empathetic and genuinely cares about our child’s progress. She has made all the difference in his communication gains. We are thankful to have her as our son’s SLP and would not hesitate in recommending her services to any child with communication needs.

Jennifer Wiegert has been a blessing for our son. His speech and understanding of language has come so far and he is making progress daily. Jennifer introduced an AAC device and programmed it according to our son's needs. She always makes sure our son uses the device, does the updates and brings appropriate activities to go with it. She always provides helpful activities to practice at home. Jennifer is very kind, loving, caring and dedicated.
